Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out why litmatch social media has become a place of existence among teenagers in the Sukajadi village. the presence of social media among teenagers, makes a person's privacy space merge with public space. There is a cultural shift among teenagers, because teenagers nowadays more often upload all their personal activities to be conveyed to their friends through litmatch social media accounts in the form of self-existence. In this study using the theory of social identity communication. According to this theory, identity and society and communication are the main link between individuals and society and communication is the link that allows this relationship to occur. Of course, identity is a "code" that defines a person's membership in diverse communities. Identity is formed when a person socially interacts with other people in life. In this study, researchers used qualitative methods. Data obtained directly by researchers from interviews with Baturaja University students who use Litmatch social media and direct observation. The primary data researchers dug up and processed from interviews with teenagers in Sukajadi Village. In Litmatch social media, almost all informants answered that the media social litmatch is for the arena of existence.
