ANALISIS MAKNA SIMBOLIK TRADISI CAHAPAN PADA MASYARAKAT OGAN DESA MUARA SAEH KECAMATAN MUARA JAYA KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ULU
Abstract
One culture that focuses on current research is the Cahapan tradition of the Ogan community, Muara Saeh Village, Muara Jaya District, OganKomering Ulu Regency. The purpose of this study is to find out how this tradition was created and understand the meaning of each symbol that exists at each stage of the procession. This study uses the Symbolic Interaction Theory from George Herbert Mead with 3 theoretical concepts, namely mind (mind), self (self), and society (society). In this study, the researcher used a constructivist paradigm with qualitative research types and descriptive qualitative methods and used purposive sampling techniques. The results of this study indicate that the Cahapan tradition is a custom to welcome babies from the Ogan ethnic group in Muara Saeh Village, Muara Jaya District, OganKomering Ulu Regency. This tradition has meaning at every stage of the procession and has meaning in the symbols that exist in this tradition. Broadly speaking, the tradition of Cahapan or welcoming babies has the meaning of being grateful for the blessings of God Almighty for being given the gift of a child, while the meanings in the symbols of this tradition have different meanings in each procession. This tradition is associated with the Symbolic Interaction Theory that the meaning at this stage of the Cahapan procession is created through a communication process and modified in a certain symbol which is meaningful to produce mutual agreement and culturally can be known and accepted by the community.
