Abstract

Grubyukan is a cultural tradition that exists in the Javanese Wonogiri ethnic group in Sido Mulyo Village,  Batumarta VII, Kec.  Madang  Suku  III  East  OKU.  The  purpose  of this study  was to determine the symbolic meaning of the procession of implementing the ewuh grubyukan tradition in the marriage ceremony in the tribal community of Central Java, especially in the Sido Mulyo Village.  This  study  uses  the  theory  of  symbolic  interaction.  The  research  method  used  is descriptive qualitative research. The results of the study can be concluded that based on the theory of  symbolic  interaction,  namely  the concept of mind according to the  people  of Sido  Mulyo Batumarta VII Kec. Madang Suku III East OKU Timur that the ewuh grubyukan tradition is the marriage custom of the Wonogiri Javanese ethnic community in Sido Mulyo Village, which not only involves the nuclear family of the bride and groom, but also the entire extended family so that the Wonogiri Javanese and the surrounding community as well as the elders are involved in the ewuh grubyukan tradition. With the aim of reducing the cost of the wedding held by the parents of the bride. Based on the symbol of self according to the people of Sido Mulyo Village, Batumarta VII, Kec. Madang Suku III East OKU Timur that in the food held, equipment is used, and the stages of the procession are carried out as a condition of the ewuh grubyukan tradition at the wedding procession of the Wonogiri Javanese ethnic community in Sido Mulyo Village Batunarta VII Kec. Madang Suku III East Oku Timur has its own symbolic meaning so that all these conditions must be held. the concept of society that the ewuh grubyukan tradition has been passed down from generation to generation from the ancestors, the value of this tradition is very good because its purpose is as a sense of help, togetherness and many good meanings contained in it, one of which, as a married husband and wife  struggle in the household to stay together regardless  of the circumstances that are being faced by the bride and groom, to ask God for grace regarding marriage.
