Abstract

Interpersonal communication patterns can be interpreted as communication between two or more people called dyadic communication. Continuous interpersonal communication can form a pattern that becomes the process of communicating with other components. In teaching children with autism, there is a pattern of communication between therapists and children with special needs, this causes communication barriers that occur and must use special methods in teaching. Autism is a developmental disorder, and not a mental illness. Autistic children have behavioral, social interaction, communication and language disorders, so opportunities for autistic children are needed to get proper education, in order to reduce behavioral barriers that occur in children. Autistic children are the same as children in general have advantages in life so that many of them have talent and creativity. The formulation of the problem in research is how the communication pattern of therapists and autistic children in developing talent and creativity in children in Tutoring Pondok Cerdas Hayka Baturaja. This study uses the communication accommodation theory formulated by Howard Giles and his colleagues. In addition, this research was developed with a descriptive qualitative methodology with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews. The paradigm used is the constructivist paradigm. The data collected were analyzed and interpreted to obtain an overview of the observed variables. The results of the study found that teaching and learning activities at the Pondok Cerdas Hayka Baturaja between therapists/teachers and children used a linear communication pattern carried out face to face, where the therapist adjusted the speaking style to the condition of the child and the child followed the therapist, in carrying out the teaching methods that had been provided. In developing children's talents and creativity the therapist conducts training gradually and consistently according to the hobbies usually shown by children, in this case it is already in the teaching method, but usually the therapist will see theĀ talents of the child, and develop it in a different way. train continuously.
