REPRESENTASI PEREMPUAN DALAM FILM JELITA SEJUBA

(Analisis Semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce Dalam Film Jelita Sejuba)

Abstract

Film is the dominant form of visual mass communication in this part of the worl which is a form of art that has become a  phenomenon for society containing message to  be conveyed to  the public or commonly called communications. One of the film that has a lot of messages in it is the film “Jelita Sejuba” which i a film realeased in 2018. This film tells the story of the struggle of a soldier’s wife named Syarifah whose heart is always turbulent when her husband has to go on duty. But Syarifah is a weak woman, she always feels sad when she is away from her husband side Jaka. The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of the sign of female representation in the Syarifah figure in the film Jelita Sejuba. This study uses a semiotic method with Charles Sanders Pierce theory namely the representamen, Object, and Interpretant of objects by looking for signs in the film that represent women in Syarifah figure. In this study researchers found several scenes that show the representation of women in the figure of Syarifah. The result of research in the film Jelita Sejuba show signs that represent women as weak, helpless, and dependent on men.
